Troubleshooting: “Invalid Code” Error in Google Authenticator

Troubleshooting: “Invalid Code” Error in Google Authenticator

If you're seeing an “Invalid Code” error when entering your 2FA code, here are a few common reasons and how to fix them:

Step 1: Make Sure You’re Using the Correct Code

If you have multiple accounts on your Authenticator app, it's easy to mix them up. For SIQO, the code should appear under the label: SIQO (youremail@xxxx.com). Please double-check that you’re using the correct 6-digit code from this section.

Step 2: Check for Time Sync Issues

2FA codes are time-sensitive — even a few seconds of difference can cause an error. Ensure the time on your device matches the time used by the Google Authenticator app.

To fix this, synchronize your device time settings with Google Authenticator. Refer to the steps below:
For Android Users
For iOS Users
1. Ensure that your Android phone is set to automatic date and time in your phone settings.

2. Please open up your Google Authentication app.

3. On the top right-hand corner, click on the colon (:) and select settings.

4. Once you're in the settings page, click on Time correction for codes, and click onto Sync now.

This process will allow the synchronization of time in your Google Authenticator app with the Google server, resolving the invalid code error message.
1. Please ensure that you have the latest version of iOS.

2. Turn on Set Automatically in Settings → General → Date & Time. This automatically sets your date and time based on your time zone. If there’s an available time zone update, your device lets you know.

3. Allow your device to use its current location to determine the correct time zone. To do this, go to Settings → Privacy → Location Services → System Services and select Setting Time Zone.

4. Check that your device shows the correct time zone in Settings → General → Date & Time → Time Zone.

This process will allow the apps to synchronize the time on the apps, with the Google server, which could be one of the reasons why there is an invalid code issue.

Step 3: Clear App Cache or Reinstall the App

Sometimes app cache or background issues can interfere with the code validation process. Try clearing the app cache or reinstalling the SIQO app and try again.

Step 4: Check Your Internet Connection & VPN Settings

Unstable or slow internet can also cause verification issues.
  • Make sure you're not using a VPN. VPNs can affect time sync and slow your connection.
  • Check that your WiFi or mobile data is stable and fast.
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting your network, or switch to another internet source.
